Marley's Halloween Costume

Marley scared almost as many kids on Halloween as the big speakers blasting XM Scream in the driveway! We had no less then 4 kids that would not walk up the driveway scared of the noises being broadcast!! WOO WOO mission complete!!

Macy's New Sledding Clothes!

Macy finally got to the size where we could buy her clothes that she will not outgrow in 6 months!!

Red River Catfishing, July 2012

Rather than post pics and clips from every trip this past month, I put together a Highlight Reel of our best trips. I can only hope August will be better! The fishing is great now!

For those that were worried about our big sub from last year. Here are a few tame ones to show that we don't need to fill the boat to be safe and have a good time!

The Rebuilt Skid Is Back Home!

Forgive the fact that this sled has been on the stand for the last month. Now I can roll it out in the driveway and do the spring cleanup. For now, the skid is in and track aligned.

Tell you what, installing an Apex skid alone is a royal pain. Thanks go to Michelle and Dave for a helping hand when needed.

Probably the Last Run of the Season?

We talked servers, storage and virtualization, on the way to the woods!

Ron and I put on 91.5 miles from Elbow Lake Store, to Pinehurst for lunch and over to Itasca State Park. We figured this may be the last day this season with an upcoming weeks forecast above 50 if not 60 degrees!!

The snow was amazing and the trails a blast! I hope this is not the end, but reality may just slap us in the face next week!

What happened to the old sleds?

So I remember when it took one hand bolt and two clips to take the hood off the 1966 Johnson. Oh, and one wire harness to disconnect the headlight. But once you got the hood off, you could literally crawl in the engine from all angles.

After doing a ski alignment Monday night, I noticed the Apex needed some new bushings and nylon washers on the A-arms to take away a little slop. Just so happens you have to remove the guage pod, 3 body panels, the airbox, the battery, battery box and a nest of wires to reach the nuts on the backside of the bulkhead to remove the A-arms. WOW!

PS: I found the oil filter down in there too, maybe I will do my own oil change next spring! I didn't put enough miles on this year to justify it.

I'm just happy it was just bushings and not a broken bulkhead! I hear that requires a bit more time and an air rivet tool to replace 58 rivets!!

And all you ditch pickle and doo riders don't need to comment. Yamahas are not made of aluminum foil, that's covering the throttle bodies while the airbox is out.

Cousin IT came to visit

Just so happened that Macy and I were watching the end of an Addams Family movie. And I mentioned she looked like Cousin IT.

ME MUH MUH ME!!

New Garage and Attic Fixtures

So I wanted to wire in lights up in the attic and the single bulb fixtures currently in our garage were in need a replacement. Sounds like a solution in the making.

After testing a couple fixtures and bulbs that would work in the 45 degree temp we keep the garage, I invested in 7 with 6500k Daylight bulbs! Here is how it turned out!

January 22, 2012 and we finally have snow!

You can tell by the kiddie parade that there is plenty of pent up snowmobile aggression in our neighborhood?

Macy finally got the chance to ride both the four-stroke sleds and she realizes that there is not a "better" one, they are both fun to ride! You will see that it took a few passes, but her last jump she got the sled off the ground! (if only an inch or two)

You get that many kids all in the same place, you will see progression. All the way from the 3 year old on the Polaris to the teenager on the Arctic Cat. They were all watching each other and learning.

Can't wait for more snow to come! We need some trail time!

Our Trip To Pipette, Ontario

The four of us took off from Detroit Lakes after 6:30pm and got to just south of Ear Falls, Ontario around 3am! By the time we got all the gear boggined back to the cabin is was 6am.

Sorry I didn't get more video of the sledding as it was amazing!!

Thanks Bryce!

Snowmobile Sled for our Canadian Trek

From what I hear we have to haul gear, propane and fuel either 2 miles across a lake or upwards of 9 miles in to Bryce's Cabin. This should help get some gear in.

It's a bit rinky-dink, but I think it should work on a budget. The PVC wrapped ropes quick disconnect with beeners and the rope runs fully around the sled to spread the load and give places to tie down the gear.

My bungie net should help keep items in the sled and from rattling around.

Cleaning Day

So there wasn't enough snow to ride this weekend, SO I WAS TOLD! So we put away xmas tree and decorations. I also got a chance to organize the garage a bit.

So is this rack a bit anal? I think it works in a heated garage.

Sledding in White Earth, January 2, 2012

So Davey-J and I had heard the reports of the snow in White Earth and Ada, so we got our butts on the road. We drove up through Ada to find ridable ditches, but kept rolling on over to Pinehurst Resort in Naytahwaush.

There was at least 13" of ice on the lake, so there were plenty of pickups on the ice. The trails just off the lake were a bit rocky, but once we got south to the main trails it was amazing!!

Heading to the south end of Elbow Lake on the river shore was a bit dangerous though. I was noticing the ice was a bit sketchy, so I stopped and stepped off the sled and my foot went right through the ice up past my knee in water. I slowly got back on to spread my weight and yelled at Dave to slowly back up!!

Needless to say, we rode North of Elbow lake the rest of the day.
